Wahoo KICKR MOVE

Wahoo KICKR MOVE — Wahoo Trainers and Rollers

GBP 1149.99 — In stock

The KICKR MOVE is a KICKR that slides. The whole trainer rocks fore and aft on a curved base, so when you get out of the saddle and throw the bike around, it moves with you instead of holding the rear axle rigid. It is the single biggest change to how a direct drive trainer feels since Wahoo started making them.

That matters more than it sounds. On a fixed trainer your bike is clamped at the rear hub and every bit of your movement is absorbed by your body and the frame. Over a two-hour session that shows up as saddle discomfort and a stiff lower back. The MOVE lets the bike travel a few centimetres in each direction, which takes the edge off long rides and makes hard sprints feel much closer to riding outdoors.

Underneath the movement it is a full-specification KICKR: 2,200W of resistance, 20% simulated gradient, ±1% power accuracy, belt drive and built-in WiFi. An 11-speed 11-28 cassette is pre-installed and every axle adapter you are likely to need is in the box.

Who this suits

Riders doing long indoor sessions, and anyone who finds a fixed trainer physically uncomfortable rather than just boring. If you regularly ride two hours or more indoors, or you race and sprint out of the saddle, this is the trainer that changes the experience most. It is also the best answer if you want top-end accuracy without moving to a full smart bike.

Who should look elsewhere

If your sessions are 45 minutes of seated intervals, you will not get the benefit and the KICKR CORE 2 does the same training job for a lot less. If you want the front of the bike to rise on climbs, note the important caveat below about the CLIMB. And if you would rather not mount and dismount a bike at all, put the money towards the KICKR Bike Pro.

It is also heavy at 29kg and the curved base needs floor space around it. This is not a trainer you tuck behind a sofa.

KICKR CLIMB compatibility — read this

The KICKR CLIMB does work with the MOVE, but only with a CLIMB Base Adapter, which is sold separately. Fitting a CLIMB to a MOVE without the adapter risks damaging both. With the adapter fitted, maximum descent is reduced from -10% to -8%. Email us if you want the two supplied together and we will make sure the adapter is included.

How it compares to what else we stock

Against the CORE 2, the MOVE gives you movement, more resistance (2,200W against 1,800W), tighter accuracy (±1% against ±2%) and a steeper gradient ceiling (20% against 16%). Against the KICKR ROLLR, the ROLLR also moves but has no built-in power meter, so the MOVE is the choice if you train with numbers. Against the Elite Justo 2, accuracy is comparable and the deciding factor is whether you want the fore-aft movement.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it actually move?

A few centimetres fore and aft. It is not dramatic and you will not notice it consciously while riding steadily — you notice it when you stand up to sprint, and you notice its absence afterwards when you go back to a fixed trainer.

Do I need to buy a cassette?

No. An 11-speed 11-28 cassette is already fitted. If your bike is 12-speed you may want to swap it, and we stock cassettes.

Will a KICKR CLIMB work with it?

Only with a CLIMB Base Adapter, sold separately, and that limits maximum descent to -8%. Do not fit a CLIMB to a MOVE without it.

Is it louder than a standard KICKR?

No. The drivetrain and belt are the same, and the movement is silent. What you hear is your chain on the cassette. A floormat is worth having for vibration through the floor.

Does the movement work on carpet?

Yes, though a hard flat surface or a mat gives the most consistent motion. On thick carpet the base can settle unevenly.
