A small magnet-less sensor that straps to your crank arm and reports cadence. 7 grams, a CR2032 that lasts up to twelve months, and nothing to align or maintain.

For indoor riders this is the sensor that actually matters. If you train on a spin bike, on rollers, or on a wheel-on trainer that reports speed but not cadence, your training app has no idea how fast you are pedalling — and cadence is half of how power gets made. Adding this fills the gap for the price of a couple of coffees.

Unlike a speed sensor, it works on anything with a crank arm, including spin bikes and gym bikes. It measures rotation rather than wheel movement, so no wheel is required.

Anyone on a spin bike, gym bike, rollers, or an older trainer without cadence reporting. Also anyone who wants cadence on an outdoor bike without buying a power meter.

Who can skip it

Most modern direct drive smart trainers report cadence already — the KICKR CORE 2 and KICKR with WiFi both do, as do the Elite trainers we stock. Check before buying. If you want speed as well, the Speed and Cadence combo is better value than buying separately.
