Modern disc-brake bikes use thru axles rather than quick release skewers, and a trainer needs the matching adapters to hold them. If your KICKR came set up for quick release and your bike is 12x142 or 12x148, this is the kit that bridges the gap.

It is a small, cheap part that stops an expensive trainer being unusable, and it is the single most common reason a new trainer will not accept a new bike. Worth having before the trainer arrives rather than discovering it on the evening you wanted to ride.

Who this suits

Anyone with a disc-brake road, gravel or mountain bike on 12x142 or 12x148 thru axles, and a KICKR that does not already have the adapters fitted. If you have more than one bike on different standards, having both this and the quick release kit means you can swap between them in seconds.

Who can skip it

Newer KICKR trainers ship with thru axle adapters in the box — the KICKR MOVE, KICKR with WiFi and CORE 2 all include them. Check what came with yours before buying a second set. If your bike uses a 130 or 135mm quick release, you want the quick release adapter kit instead.
